With the economy slowly coming back, dining returning, and schools getting back in session, Dripping Springers are breathing a concerted sigh of relief and life starts to resemble something a bit more normal.
While large events, concerts, and bars are still on the outs for the time being, there’s still plenty to do and enjoy in Dripping Springs this August 2020.
Here are our August 2020 events:
Live Music Saturdays at 12 Fox Beer Co.
When: Saturdays in August 2020
Where: 4700 W Fitzhugh Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
Why: With ample outdoor space, food trucks, and fresh brew on tap, the 12 Fox Beer Co. has one of the best spots to go out, enjoy food and drink with small groups, and safely listen to music with other people. What a novel concept! Their Saturday music lineup is full of locals and prominently feature singer-songwriters. Entry is free and proper social distancing and mask wearing is in effect. Basic Carpentry for Kids – Virtual Learning
When: Sunday, August 23, 2020, 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM CDT
Where: Register at Eventbrite
Why: Looking to engage the kiddos with something they can really put their hands on? This basic carpentry class for kids is led by Adam Haumer and organized by Moonbridge Academy. You will need to register to receive a materials list and advance instruction. This class is designed to teach kids some new and age-appropriate woodworking skills.
Virtual Encounters: With Animals at the San Antonio Zoo – Okapis
When: Wednesday, August 12, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Where: Meeting Room at Dripping Springs Community Library, 501 Sportsplex Dr., Dripping Springs, TX, 78620
Why: Organized by the San Antonio Zoo, this virtual learning experience allows children between the ages of 0 – 12 to get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most majestic animals in the zoo. This program features the Okapi habitat, a tour led by the zoo’s Okapi handler. All families are expected to maintain adequate social distancing and exercise responsibility when it comes to attending this event. That Summer Feeling Art Exhibits at Mercer Street
When: August 7 – August 29, 2020
Where: Mercer Street Art, 330 W Mercer St Suite 6, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
Why: Located in the warehouse district on Mercer Street in downtown Dripping Springs, Mercer St. Art promotes area artists and craftsman. By calling ahead and scheduling an appointment, you can enjoy the art gallery, workshop facility and wide selection of artful gifts. This year’s exhibit is called “That Summer Feeling” and features a wide range of artists and exhibits as well as a showcase featuring some of the Drip’s homegrown artists. Socially-distanced Robert Earl Keen at Nutty Brown Amphitheater

Why: Your favorite Texas troubadour is hosting 2 socially-distanced shows at Nutty Brown. Presented by KASE101 and 98.1 KVET, the show features 2 opening acts and starts at 6pm.
Ribbon Cutting for Frio’s Gourmet Pops

Why: Come celebrate the opening of a much-needed addition to the Dripping Springs local business community, Frio’s. Frio’s is a popsicle business that utilizes local farms and resources in the communities where they have storefronts, creating unique flavors and helping the local economies in the process.
